About me
I am an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the California University of Science and Medicine, where I serve as Director of the Medical Spanish Program. In this role, I designed and implemented a longitudinal, systems-based curriculum that integrates linguistic proficiency, cultural humility, and clinical communication training. The program prepares medical students to engage meaningfully with Spanish-speaking patients and address the healthcare inequities shaped by language barriers. I also serve as Vice Chair of the National Association of Medical Spanish, contributing to national efforts advancing linguistic inclusion and culturally responsive care in medicine, and I am part of the Center for Clinician Multilingualism, where effective patient–clinician communication is central to high-quality healthcare.
